48/100 || My trip to Virginia was to see my youngest sister graduate from The University of Virginia with her Masters in Architecture. It was such a proud sister moment as I know how much she has endured and given of herself to get to this moment. I’ve been in awe of her grit and perseverance and pure drive. It was not always an easy road, as she encountered both health issues and institutional politics over the 3+ years. Yet, she also developed amazing friendships and had the support of devoted professors – proving that life gives us a lot of good within our struggles. ⠀
Being able to help her celebrate was a wonderful way to send her off to embark on her next exciting adventure. I love graduations, and find them to be so emotional. I am not sure if it is the educator in me or the nostalgic memories, but it is so amazing to be celebrating the pure accomplishment of learning. No matter way happens – no one can take your education away from you. It is yours and yours alone forever and always. Getting to see the graduates, as well as the teachers, families and friends celebrate this is quite beautiful. All of the graduates had such a playful attitude – very much present in the moment. It was infectious! I am not sure if this is a new thing or a UVA thing, but many of the students carried balloons as they proceeded to their seats – an added playful touch! ⠀
Congrats, Meredith! 🎓✨
