45/100 || Finding play in the everyday. When we were younger our aunt taught us how to turn our napkin into a “bow-tie” and then say the rhyme “Pay the rent, but I can’t pay the rent. Pay the rent, but I can’t pay the rent. I’ll pay the rent.” Sexist rhyme but everytime I have a used napkin it makes me think of it. Last night I found myself folding my napkin at dinner and then realizing that it looked like a miniature tie. A little clown tie. There is indeed play in the everyday, and it is an interesting challenge to see how you can turn ordinary objects into something fun and playful. You definitely start seeing things with a playful set of eyes, which opens you up for impromptu moments of spontaneity.
UPDATE: So, embarrassingly, I just noticed that I spelled “impromptu” wrong on the image. This is a definite late night fail, but I’m keeping it cause it is real and shows my flaws. Spell check is my friend.
