14/100 || Today was a bit stressful as the venue I hoped to have my workshop in fell through, which has taken me back to the start. So, I found myself at 10:30pm still having not done anything playful and very much in my own head. I was struggling to try and think of something playful I could do, when I thought of Salli Swindell‘s book Change Your Life One Doodle at a Time. So – I grabbed some markers and paper and, well – this is what happened.
There really is something so cathartic about doodling. It is such a visual expression of letting go. I mean – one of these is legit just me taking the markers in my fist and scribbling – back and forth until I felt like it was enough. I love the addition of color into my day, and it was almost like I could feel a different part of my brain being engaged. I felt a little less serious and definitely less attached to any specific outcome. It was just about going for it and doing whatever came to mind – not self-editing or placing any sort of expectation on what I was creating. Which felt so freeing!
So, my challenge for tomorrow is how can I relate this feeling and approach to finding a new venue. The logistical aspects of putting an event together is the part that I really don’t enjoy – so I’m going to think about how I can approach it more from a doodling attitude. And…if anyone is interested in a framed print of one of these beauties – they are selling for $1k a piece.
